2016

And just like that we're into the third week of 2016. I can not believe how fast this year is going. Hopefully the next few weeks will slow down a bit before school goes back.

One of my resolutions for this year was to get this blog back on the road. My four resolutions for this year are:

  1. Get back to America
  2. See more of this country I call home sweet home
  3. Blog more consistently
  4. Read one book a week/ 52 books this year.
So far I've stuck to my resolutions pretty well, I've got out and seen some new places, I'm reading more and enjoying it and I've set up a savings account for America. Small steps people, small steps!

Florida pt. 2

On Sunday Mum and Dad wanted to cook a Kiwi dinner so we went to Whole Foods to get some New Zealand lamb, some veges and some stuff to make a pav, while the kids went to church. Then Dad and I took Sebastian fishing for the afternoon at the pier.

[wooo, me]

Then on Monday we went out to the everglades to do a airboat tour.

Then on Tuesday we went over to Sawgrass to go shopping and to ikea to get mum some new bath mats... As you do. Wednesday the headed out to LA for a few days and I was able to reclaim my bedroom, whoop whoop.

Florida

On Tuesday we took the kids out of school and went over to Naples to have a look around. The beach was incredibly busy, but there was no sun. The beach was covered by a heavy mist, and visibility was pretty low, yet everyone was out sun bathing. So bizarre.

On Wednesday Mum, Dad and Sam left me for the Bahamas, for a few days while I worked. Saturday morning we headed down to the Keys to have a look around.

[family lazy finger slefies for becky c, becky d and cathyyyy :*]

Then we headed back up through Miami, Mum, Dad and Sam got to experience Florida's crazy weather and some flash flooding haha.

New York pt. 2

Sunday morning we had a late breakfast before wandering down to Madison Square Garden to watch the NY Mets s the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Mets got thrashed haha. The atmosphere was nothing like we expected, it was actually pretty quiet haha. I think I've been to louder Breakers games. After the game we up the Empire State building and watched the sun start to set.

We were in NY for Restaurant week so that night we went to the steakhouse in our hotel for dinner and then headed back to our room for an early night.
Monday morning we got up and went up to Central Park to take a horse and carriage ride through the park. It was freezing, but so cute.

Then we headed back to the hotel to pack and check out, stopping at starbucks for coffee to warm us up and a quick trip to the Late Show.

New York!

The concrete jungle where dreams are made of.....

A couple of weeks ago I caught the train from here in Fort Lauderdale all the way up to New York. It was meant to be a 26 hour trip, but due to work on the tracks, it ended up being closer to 29 hours. By the time we pulled into Penn Station I was pretty excited to be off the train haha. But now I can say I caught the train up the east coast of America! I arrived half a day before Sam, Mum and Dad, so I headed to the hotel to get myself checked in and showered before I went out exploring on my own (in -15c weather).

[my first real glimpses of snow. the excitement was real.]

[eating dinner alone at The Australian, while watching the rugby]

[hanging out with this tired little shit <3]

On Saturday we went down to the 9/11 memorial which was surreal, and saw the statue of liberty before heading back up to the hotel to have lunch.

After lunch, Dad and Sam went to bed and Mum and I went exploring, and I got to have my first snow experience!

 [The first few flakes]

That night we went to the Hardrock Cafe in Times Square for mum's 50th birthday. So much food.

[birthday cake shots]
