birthday shennanigans.

I woke up on Monday morning at home after my trip to the Bahamas to a barrage of texts from people at home wishing me a happy birthday, and I've never been more confused in my life haha, until I got to a text from mum which stated that it was in fact my birthday in New Zealand. I spent my NZ at Barnes and Noble and I think I touched almost every book in that store and left with a serious dent in my wallet. We lost our power at home so Stephanie decided to work from the bookstore and I decided to trawl the aisles of the store while she worked. I have bought so many books while I've been here these past three months, I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with them when I leave haha.

On Tuesday morning I was woken by Lulu and Sebastian jumping on me wishing me a happy birthday and requesting that I shower (cold, due to lack of power) so we could begin the list of activities that they had prepared, (by they, I mean Lulu, Sebastian was just happy to have a day off school haha!)

Lulu covered my sunglasses in masking tape to act as a blindfold, as modeled by Sebastian below, and we headed to Dennys for brunch.

After brunch we headed home and I locked myself in my room for awhile to read while Lulu planned the rest of the day. At 5.30 I was summoned to the pool where all the kids friends and their parents had gathered for my 'surprise party.'

Lulu, Fifi and Mia decorated the cake with m&ms and then decided it also needed sprinkles, which we didn't have so instead Lulu grabbed the white sugar and generously covered the cake hahahaha. Lulu, Fifi and Mia ran different stations where the kids got their faces painted, could watch a gymnastics performance or go swimming. After spending some time with the neighbors the mosquito's came out to play so we headed inside and ordered in chinese food for dinner which I ate while sitting on the floor of the kitchen because I'm classy.

And that was a brief overview of my birthday.

Here's a selfie because I'm feeling vain...
